As of this moment there are about 40,000 locks being used at USC. About
1,200 of those are key pad locks that use punch codes, and the remaining
are either door knob locks or card access locks. To the non-locksmith
eye, it could look like one lock is like any other lock, or a bolt like
any other bolt.
Yet the variety can range widely due to production year and door style. This leads to an interesting array of lock styles in security hardware.
We thought you would like to see a few of the more commonly found locks at our university, as well as a little information about how they function.
