“We put out about 200 extra containers during the festival” said Betty Davis, Manager of FMS Waste Management. Additionally, her team works around the clock during the event, usually starting at dawn, to continuously remove all waste created each day in order to make way for even more waste. As with all university waste, the FMS Waste Management uses its resources to sort and recycle, minimizing the amount of waste that ends up as trash by about 52%.

Coordinating with the Waste Management team to schedule waste pick-ups during the festival and other events is one of many tasks for the Events Planning team, and Waste Management welcomes the assistance to incorporate every event into ongoing university sustainability efforts.
