John Welsh was named Associate Vice President for Facilities Management Services in July 2005. He is responsible for providing leadership for the Facilities Management organization and its approximately 360 employees.
In his native United Kingdom, John Welsh spent twenty years as a project manager in the employ of an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) design-build contractor. Since arriving from England in 1983, Mr. Welsh has served Facilities Management Services in a variety of positions, most notably as Director of Engineering Services (1992-1997), and the Executive Director of Operations and Maintenance (1997-July 2005). John Welsh’s leadership was largely responsible for the successful development and implementation of the university’s Master Energy Program, which currently generates energy cost savings in excess of $1,000,000 per annum.
