The FMS Waste Management unit is responsible for managing the solid waste stream at the University Park Campus, Health Sciences Campus, and North University Park Campus.  We ensure that the university's waste is taken to appropriate facilities for proper sorting and recycling.

On campus, waste is source sorted into different categories such as green waste, food waste, contractor's waste, and rubbish.  Rubbish and waste are taken to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) for further sorting and delivery to recycling companies.

The cardboard division of Waste Management makes 20-25 stops per day collecting cardboard and turning it into bales to be collected on a monthly basis.  The team is averaging 16 tons of cardboard bales monthly.   Baling cardboard at The University is one of the most valuable methods of tracking our recycling waste diversion.
